The MotorLand Aragón circuit was the scene of a true celebration during the third round of the 2026 GR Cup Spain season, the one-make championship organized by Motor & Sport Institute (MSI) and Toyota Spain. The event in Alcañiz brought competitors to one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar, a track that is both highly technical and fast, made even more challenging by the extreme temperatures caused by a heatwave across the Iberian Peninsula. The conditions added an extra level of difficulty for drivers, car mechanics, and tires, with cockpit temperatures exceeding 60 degrees Celsius.

Marco Aguilera dominates race 1 from start to finish on Saturday

Marco Aguilera set the pace from the outset, securing pole position in qualifying. Joan Vinyes Dabad qualified second, while Marcos de Diego completed the top three.

At the start of the first race, Aguilera comfortably controlled proceedings from lights to flag, delivering a flawless performance. He maintained command throughout the race, carefully managing his pace during a particularly demanding weekend due to both the heat and the nature of the circuit.

Behind him, the action remained intense, with position changes and several battles unfolding within the chasing pack. Marcos de Diego finished second, Joan Vinyes Dabad completed the podium, and Ignacio Rodríguez crossed the line in fourth ahead of Antonio Albacete. Aguilera also set the fastest lap of the race, earning the additional championship point awarded by the regulations and completing a perfect day at MotorLand Aragón.

On Sunday, Marco Aguilera was once again the fastest driver in qualifying, ahead of Antonio Albacete in second, Ignacio Rodríguez in third, Joan Vinyes Dabad in fourth, and Miguel Ángel Romero in fifth.

The second race proved much closer than Saturday’s contest, with the drivers running in a tightly packed group and fighting fiercely for the leading positions. Joan Vinyes Dabad produced an outstanding charge from the rear of the leading pack, setting a blistering pace and overtaking his rivals one by one on his way to victory. He also recorded the fastest lap of the race, securing the bonus point. Miguel Ángel Romero finished second, while Ignacio Rodríguez completed the podium.

The battle in the chasing group was equally intense, with Ignacio Rodríguez, Santiago Castilla, and Luis Álvarez among the main protagonists. Castilla, who had been running sixth, dropped to tenth place on the final lap following a racing incident with Marcos de Diego.

Following the MotorLand Aragón round, Marco Aguilera remains at the top of the overall standings with 127 points. Antonio Albacete retains second place with 112 points, while Joan Vinyes Dabad moves up to third with 103 points. Marcos de Diego and Miguel Ángel Romero remain close behind on 96 and 95 points respectively, confirming that the GR Cup Spain heads into the second half of the season with the title fight still wide open.

In the Junior category, Marco Aguilera continues to lead the standings after the MotorLand Aragón event, ahead of Miguel Ángel Romero, Sandro Pérez, and Lucas Mariconda, in a classification that also highlights the consistency shown by the championship’s youngest drivers.
