Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada completed the Rally Sweden behind the wheel of the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, marking their first participation of 2026 in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), competing in the WRC2 category. The Swedish event featured 18 stages covering a total of 300.66 competitive kilometers on snow and ice, characterized by high average speeds and constantly changing grip conditions throughout each stage.
Cachón and Rozada’s performance began with a strong time in the opening stage. The team set the sixth-fastest time among the Rally2 entries, positioning themselves as the fastest non-Nordic crew after the first stage. On Friday, the first pass through Bygdsiljum 1 (SS2, 27.55 km) was affected by a spin that cost them some time. Nevertheless, the duo stayed competitive in the morning loop, and in Bäck 1 (SS4, 11.53 km), they recorded the fifth-best time among the Rally2 cars.
The decisive setback came in Bygdsiljum 2 (SS5), where an off-road excursion caused damage that forced them to retire from Friday’s stage. Thanks to the SuperRally rule, Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada were able to rejoin and continue competing, completing the rest of the rally. For the remainder of the event, the duo maintained a solid pace, posting strong times on the remaining stages, and finished the weekend achieving their objectives at one of the most iconic events on the calendar.
