Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada aim for their first points-scoring round in WRC2 at 2026 Rally Croatia

Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada will compete this weekend in the Croatia Rally (April 9–12), marking the first scoring round of their WRC2 program in the World Rally Championship (WRC), and their second appearance of 2026 after the Rally Sweden, an event they entered with the goal of gaining experience on snow—a completely new surface for both.

The Croatian event is run entirely on asphalt, featuring narrow roads with constant changes in surface conditions, where grip levels vary continuously.

The last time Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada competed on asphalt was at the 2025 Rally Japan, where they secured victory. Following the usual pre-event test day, the team was able to try different setups, helping the Asturian driver feel very comfortable with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2—a key step in defining settings and building confidence ahead of the rally.

The 2026 Croatia Rally includes 20 special stages and 300.28 timed kilometers, within a total route of 1,136.60 km. The ceremonial start will take place on Thursday at Rijeka Korzo, with the service park located at the Automotodrom Grobnik circuit and the final podium in Opatija.

On Friday, eight stages will be run; Saturday will feature another eight; and Sunday will conclude the rally with four stages, including Alan – Senj 2 as the Wolf Power Stage. In terms of distances, Beram – Cerovlje (23.78 km) will be the longest stage of the rally, while Pećurkovo Brdo – Mrežnički Novaki (9.11 km) will be the shortest.

Alejandro Cachón (DRIVER): “We have completed our test here in Croatia. We managed to cover a good number of kilometres and try everything we had planned. I think it has been a very positive day, working closely with the engineer. I feel comfortable with the car and I’ve been building confidence, especially as we hadn’t driven on asphalt since Japan. We’re really looking forward to the start of the rally, so now it’s time to stay focused and give it our all’’.

Borja Rozada (CO-DRIVER): “We are very pleased with the performance of the car and the team. The roads were quite challenging, with bumps and a lot of dirt, but we tried to adapt the car as much as possible to these conditions. We’re very excited to start our first points-scoring rally of the championship and hope to achieve a strong result for Toyota, MSi Racing Team and all our sponsors’’.

Teo Martín (TEAM MANAGER): “We are satisfied with the work completed during the test. The team followed the planned programme in demanding conditions and the overall feeling is positive. We arrive well prepared and confident for the start of the rally’’.
