18 Nov Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada, champions of the S-CER 2024 after the victory in the Pozoblanco Rally
Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada are crowned champions of the 2024 Spanish Rally Superchampionship after winning the Pozoblanco Rally, the last of the season.
The Pozoblanco Rally started on Friday with the shakedown and the qualifying stage in which Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada set the third fastest time, which allowed them to choose to start in thirteenth position for Saturday’s stages.
The GR Yaris Rally2 crew started the rally in the best possible way as they scored 3 consecutive scratches, as well as setting a better time than a rally1 in one of the stages.
Despite the fact that Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada were already mathematically champions on the fourth stage, they didn’t slow down and continued with the same objective as always, to take the victory.
And so it was, the Cachón-Rozada duo won the last rally of the season and were proclaimed S-CER champions.
They thus closed an incredible season, in which Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada have achieved 4 victories and have not been off the podium in any rally. To this we must add that it has been the first season with the GR Yaris Rally2, a new car that has given a spectacular performance both on gravel and tarmac.
Teo Martín Motorsport team and Toyota Gazoo Racing Spain have done a great job, joining forces and helping Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada to flat out through the stages.
Alejandro Cachón (DRIVER): “It has been a very complicated and demanding season, because of the equality at the top, but I am very happy to be able to celebrate my first title in the Spanish Rally Superchampionship. I think the whole team at TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Spain and Teo Martín Motorsport have done an impeccable job throughout the season, and this title is also theirs. The key of the year has been to be so consistent without losing speed and to be on the podium in every rally. In addition, the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 has shown its potential and reliability on both gravel and tarmac. Now it’s time to think about 2025”.
Borja Rozada (CO-DRIVER): “I am very happy to have won this championship. I am very happy, first of all, for Alejandro, for having dominated the whole year, fighting for the victory in every race, achieving the highest number of scratches, the lowest number of TC Plus and the highest number of victories. I am also very happy for Toyota Gazoo Racing Spain, because in their first year with an official team they have achieved the victory. And also very happy for the Teo Martín Motorsport team because throughout the year they have made our job easier, leaving an impeccable car in every way, both in terms of reliability and performance. And also many thanks to Lewis Allen, the engineer who came from Toyota to help us for a couple of races, who has been a life insurance in this last part of the season”.
Teo Martín (TEAM MANAGER): “Winning the championship was a great joy. It’s a reward for the whole team. We have worked very hard throughout the season and to be able to close it not only by winning the championship but also the last rally has been incredible. Working with a brand like Toyota gives you a lot of confidence because of the quality of their cars. I am very proud of Alejandro, Borja, Toyota Gazoo Racing and the whole team for their efforts”.
