Cachón and Rozada, P2 WRC2 Challenger and P5 WRC2 in the Rally Acropolis

Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada successfully tackled the tough challenge of the Acropolis Rally, earning a spot on the second step of the podium in the WRC2 Challenger category and finishing fifth overall in the WRC2 standings.

The Cachón-Rozada duo also managed to complete the Greek event in tenth place overall—a great result for the GR Yaris Rally2 crew, who showed consistent pace and were able to overcome the punctures that are so characteristic of this rally.

Their strong pace allowed Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada to be the fastest in one of the stages and to finish in the top five in eight of the seventeen stages contested.

Friday began with a promising fourth-place finish in the long Aghii Theodori stage. However, a double puncture in SS4 cost them nearly two minutes, dropping them to eighth place. Despite this setback, Cachón and Rozada managed to fight back, ending the day in sixth place in the WRC2 category.

On Saturday, the Spanish team continued to show their potential. They particularly stood out in Karoutes (SS11), where Alejandro Cachón set the fastest time. They also claimed two third-place stage finishes, allowing them to move up to fifth in the overall standings for the day.

During Sunday’s final leg, the duo maintained a steady and error-free performance, securing fifth place in WRC2 and second place in WRC2 Challenger.

With these results, Cachón now sits eighth in the WRC2 championship with 27 points and climbs to fifth in the WRC2 Challenger standings with 42 points.

Alejandro Cachón (DRIVER): “A super tough rally, one of the hardest I’ve ever done, but we made it to the end, and I think in a very good way. A shame about Friday’s puncture in the fourth stage, but in this rally that’s part of the game, so we knew when to push and when to manage, especially in stages where there was a high risk of punctures. Very happy, great job by the whole team, and now it’s time to focus on the next event’’.

Borja Rozada (CO-DRIVER): “Happy with the final result, which could have been even better if we hadn’t had those punctures on the first morning. I think we showed speed, consistency, and we managed things well to get a podium in WRC2 Challenger and fifth place in WRC2. Really looking forward to continuing the work with the team and the upcoming events’’.

Teo Martín (TEAM MANAGER): “The Acropolis Rally has been a very demanding event, but we are very satisfied with Alejandro and Borja’s result, as they achieved a magnificent second place in the WRC2 Challenger category and fifth overall in WRC2, despite suffering a double puncture. They also managed to set their first fastest time on gravel. It’s also worth highlighting the strong pace shown by Jan and Rodrigo, who set two fastest times and managed to climb up the standings despite suffering three punctures. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side, as the front-running rivals didn’t encounter any problems. Now it’s time to focus on preparing for the next round of the championship’’.

Jan Solans and Rodrigo Sanjuán finish the demanding Acropolis Rally

Jan Solans and Rodrigo Sanjuán completed the Acropolis Rally—arguably the toughest event on the entire WRC calendar—showcasing flashes of the strong pace they delivered on several stages.

It was a rally of highs and lows for the Solans-Sanjuán duo, as they battled through three punctures and a broken suspension arm in the final stage, all caused by the extreme demands of this event.

Despite these setbacks, Jan Solans and Rodrigo Sanjuán demonstrated their impressive pace throughout the Greek rally. A clear example of this was their fastest time in the shakedown, setting two stage wins, and maintaining tenth overall up to SS15, even after suffering three punctures.

The determination and effort shown by both throughout the event allowed them to complete the Acropolis Rally, successfully covering all 345.76 kilometers of the course.

Jan Solans (DRIVER): “We’ve finished the Rally of Greece once again, but without much luck. This year we had better pace than last year, we started off strong by winning the shakedown and showing good speed, but we got a puncture already in the first stage and things got difficult from there. It’s true that we started Saturday well again, winning stages, but we had several issues that in the end kept us from recovering as much as we would have liked. Sunday was also a tough day overall, but now Greece is behind us, and we’ll focus on the upcoming events’’.

Rodrigo Sanjuán (CO-DRIVER): “One of the toughest rallies I can remember. It’s been very demanding for us—a real test of endurance, patience, and consistency just to stay in the rally because we had a lot of problems with punctures and mechanical issues. But we leave here with the takeaway that we had good pace and now have a deep understanding of the car, even being able to repair it under any condition. Thanks as always to the team, to our mechanics, our engineer, and to Jan for pushing even when things didn’t go our way. We’ll keep working and get ready for the next rally’’
