Ángel Piqueras claims a podium finish on an emotionally challenging Sunday at Sepang

Ángel Piqueras climbed to the second step of the podium, with Ryusei Yamanaka delivering a strong comeback to finish fifth after an emotionally difficult day at the Sepang International Circuit.

Sunday’s races were overshadowed by the accident involving José Antonio Rueda and Noah Dettwiler on the formation lap, which brought a mix of emotions and uncertainty to the paddock. The entire MSi Racing Team wishes both riders a full and steady recovery within the circumstances.

“It was a really hot race, and on the bike I couldn’t find the same grip I had during the race simulation. I want to send all my support to Rueda and Dettwiler. I’ve made it to the podium, but I don’t like doing so under these circumstances because the category’s champion wasn’t on track, and it was a very nasty accident. I also want to send strength to their families, their teams, and everyone supporting them.”

“I’m not entirely happy with my race because I made a few mistakes that probably cost me the podium. Even so, the position I finished in is good — not the best, but good, especially after struggling in some recent races. I started the weekend with some difficulties, but finishing fifth is always important. It’s a mix of emotions — I’m happy with the result compared to last week, but I feel I could have been on the podium. I want to thank the team for everything.”

“I had to end the race early due to a technical issue with my bike. Overall, I’m happy with the weekend, but also a bit disappointed that I couldn’t finish my first World Championship race.”

“It was a tough race, but we managed to salvage the weekend after three crashes — we struggled a lot. On days like today, you realize that sometimes we worry about things that aren’t important. What really matters is that both Rueda and Dettwiler are okay. It was another race we fought through. Now I’m already thinking about Portimão, but above all, I hope Rueda and Dettwiler recover well.”
