Jan Solans and Rodrigo Sanjuán close the WRC2 season with a great pace in Rally Japan

Jan Solans and Rodrigo Sanjuán have completed their first season in WRC2 where they have achieved a historic victory in the Rally of Portugal, a podium in the Rally of Sardinia and great performances such as the recent one in the Rally of Japan. All this has allowed them to finish fifth in the WRC2 Challenger category.

In the Rally of Japan, where Jan Solans and Rodrigo Sanjuán returned to compete on tarmac after 11 months, the GR Yaris Rally2 crew showed a great pace, especially in the last stage where they managed to make a scratch in SS19.

The rally started well for Jan and Rodrigo, as they were fighting for podium positions from the start. However, a touch on SS10 forced them to change an arm on the section, which caused them to lose positions in the general classification.

It was in the last stage where Jan Solans and Rodrigo Sanjuán found the best pace thanks to some changes in the set-up. The evolution in the rally was notorious as they finished in the leading positions in all the stages. In addition, they were +0.2 seconds away from getting the scratch in the powerstage.

Thus ended the Rally of Japan and the 2024 season for Jan Solans and Rodrigo Sanjuán, marked by many new tests in which the goal has been to learn, do kilometres and gain experience in a championship like the WRC2.

Jan Solans (DRIVER): “My first full season in WRC2 is over. Rally Japan has been a very demanding rally. The second day was very tough but the changes we made for the last stage allowed us to find the expected pace and I got my third scratch. It was a good way to finish the season, with a great job from the whole team and we are ready to take another step forward next season in WRC2’’.

Rodrigo Sanjuán (CO-DIVER): “We are happy with the way we have finished the season, having the pace of the leading positions and scoring a scratch. It has been a very positive season where we have learned a lot and the work of the whole team has led us to have great results. ’’

Teo Martín (TEAM MANAGER): “We closed the season in a very positive way. Jan and Rodrigo have done a great performance in Japan showing in the last stage that they have the pace of the leading positions. In addition, this season we have achieved a victory in Portugal and a podium in Sardinia, being our first season in WRC2, so we should be proud of the work we have done’’.
