Jan Solans and Rodrigo Sanjuán are heading to Rally Japan, the last round of the WRC2 2024. The event will take place from 21 to 24 November and will be held on tarmac.
The GR Yaris Rally2 crew members arrive at the Asian event after their great performance at the Rally of Chile and will be looking to finish their first season in WRC2 in the best possible way in a new event for Jan Solans.
Rally Japan is characterised by the high speeds of the event and it will be a challenge for the drivers to keep up the pace without making mistakes. In addition, it will be the second time this season that Jan Solans and Rodrigo Sanjuán will be driving on asphalt, as the last time was in the Monte-Carlo Rally 11 months ago.
The event will start on Thursday 21st with the shakedown and the first timed section that will be held at the Toyota Stadium in a duel format, so the show is guaranteed.
From then on, we will have 20 stages in which Jan Solans and Rodrigo Sanjuán will try to drive the GR Yaris Rally2 at the highest possible pace, taking into account the difficulties that characterise this rally such as its narrow sections, the little grid, the excess of curves and the changes of surface.
Jan Solans (DRIVER): “It’s been 11 months since Monte Carlo, so I’m really looking forward to racing on tarmac again. On Sunday we did a small test very similar to the rally in which our engineer helped me a lot to find a good setup for the rally and well, it will be a difficult rally for us because it is totally new and it is a very complicated rally, narrow, twisty, with many curves that do not allow a mistake, asphalt with little grid and nothing, I said, looking forward to the rally and try to get a good result to end the season with a good feeling’’.
Rodrigo Sanjuán (CO-DIVER): “We are very grateful to the team for giving us another opportunity to go out of Europe and get to know a new rally like Japan, a very complicated rally where the grip is very strange, with constant changes of surfaces, a lot of curves, and well, we will continue to gain experience, try to get a good result and above all learn for the future for what comes next year’’.
Teo Martín (TEAM MANAGER): “It’s a special rally for us to be able to race at Toyota’s ‘home’ with our GR Yaris Rally2, which has given us a spectacular performance. We will be looking for a good performance to close this first season in WRC2 in the best way possible’’.
