The MSi Racing Team approaches one of the most special events of the season with ambition and maximum motivation: the Rally Islas Canarias, which will take place from April 23 to 26 on tarmac roads across the island of Gran Canaria.
The team arrives at this event, considered its “home rally,” with a strong trio of drivers made up of Alejandro Cachón, Diego Domínguez, and Andrea Lafarja.
Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada, at the wheel of the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, arrive at the Rally Islas Canarias aiming to repeat the success achieved in the past two years in which they have competed in this event. Their victory in 2024 in the S-CER and the second place obtained in the World Rally Championship (WRC), in the WRC2 category in 2025, underline their strong record. That track record, combined with the driver’s experience on asphalt, places them among the favourites to take the WRC2 category win.
This year, after finishing fourth in the Rally of Croatia, the Spanish duo arrives in the Canary Islands in very good form, ready to compete at home on stages they know perfectly.
In this 2026 edition, the Rally Islas Canarias celebrates its 50th anniversary with a four-day format and a route entirely based in Gran Canaria. The event retains its defining characteristics: wide, fast stages with an abrasive surface, in an environment that pushes tyres to the limit.
Alejandro Cachón (DRIVER): “Great test day. We tried many things and completed quite a few kilometers. We did a great job together with the engineers, and I think we’ve found a very good setup for this rally, so we have maximum confidence. Expectations are high, and we’re going all out.”
Teo Martín (TEAM MANAGER): “The test day was very positive and allowed us to fine-tune the setup ahead of Rally Islas Canarias. The team has done a great job, and we arrive well prepared for a demanding event where we want to fight for the win’’.

Diego Domínguez and Rogelio Peñate head into their second WRC2 outing of the season this weekend, following their strong result at the Safari Rally Kenya.
The duo will compete in Rally Islas Canarias, switching to an asphalt setup for an event that is particularly special for the Gran Canaria-born co-driver, who will be racing at home, and where Domínguez faces a new challenge on a surface in which he has less experience.
As part of their preparation, the team had planned to contest the Rally of Santa Brígida. However, the event was cancelled due to severe weather, preventing them from gaining valuable competitive mileage, so Domínguez and Peñate have instead focused on a test session carried out last weekend.
Diego Domínguez (DRIVER): “We’ve wrapped up two days of testing here in the Canary Islands very happy. We’ve improved a lot compared to last year and have worked extensively on the car’s setup together with the engineer and the whole team. I’m excited to race again in the Canary Islands, which feels like my second home, on Rogelio’s island.”
Rogelio Peñate (CODRIVER): “Home rally, a very special rally. It’s its 50th anniversary and, being an ambassador of the rally, it makes it even more meaningful. Very happy to be competing here, a rally we already know from last year. You can see that Diego is improving more and more on tarmac, so we are very motivated and I’m sure we will do well in this event.”

Andrea Lafarja and Germán Maune are ready to take on their second event of the 2026 WRC calendar, competing in the WRC2 Challenger and WRC Masters categories.
It will be the first time Lafarja drives the GR Yaris Rally2 on tarmac, an unfamiliar surface for her. For this reason, during the weekend tests the main goal has been to gain experience, complete mileage, and find a solid setup.
Andrea Lafarja (DRIVER): “It’s been a great test day, with nearly 100 kilometers of running. I love the tarmac — it’s very difficult and technical, and that’s exactly what we’ve been working on these days. The Rally Islas Canarias is going to be spectacular. I’m very happy to be here, and now it’s time to wait for the shakedown and try to do the best job possible.”
Germán Maune (CODRIVER):“Very happy to be in the Canary Islands, we have completed almost 100 km of very good testing. It’s our first time on tarmac and we really enjoyed it; we are adapting faster than we expected. The stages are very demanding and technical, and the pace notes are very important for us in this rally.”
