Second position for Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada in the 41 Sierra Morena Rally in their debut with the GR Yaris Rally2 on tarmac

The 41 Rallye Sierra Morena started last Friday with the shakedown and the qualifying stage, where Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada showed a great pace with the GR Yaris Rally2 in their first tarmac rally.

However, a puncture in the qualifying stage meant that our duo started the Saturday stages in eighth position, but this did not stop our team, which went all out and achieved a scratch in the first stage.

This motivation made that after three stages, Cachón and Rozada were leading the general classification with 2 seconds of advantage.

The second loop started with another scratch in TC5 for the team that finished the first stage with Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada in second position, 8.9 seconds behind the leaders. Sunday’s second stage started with a puncture in TC9 that was repeated in TC11, which made them lose time in those sections.

However, Cachón and Rozada went all out in the second loop scoring two consecutive scratches in the following sections.the last section of this Rally Sierra Morena ended with the second position overall for Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada who have done a brilliant role after the punctures and being the first time with the GR Yaris Rally2 on tarmac.

The scratches achieved, the good pace and the work of the whole team have made this great result possible.

Already with the mind on the next goal, the Rally Islas Canarias to be held from 3 to 5 May.

Alejandro Cachón (DRIVER): “Very positive result as it was the first tarmac rally with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 and the feelings were already very good from the beginning. It was a very hard rally because the pace was very high with the fight with Diego and it was also very hot. It was a pity the punctures that took us out of the fight for the victory but it is a good result. “

Borja Rozada (CO-DRIVER): “Very happy to have achieved another podium for Toyota Gazoo Racing Spain and Teo Martin Motorsport in the first tarmac rally. It was an important test for the competitive level of the car. We have shown that we are fighting for the victory but the punctures have made us try to secure the second place. Thanks to the whole team for the effort and looking forward to get to the Canary Islands to fight for the victory as we have shown we can do”.

Teo Martín (TEAM MANAGER): “It was the first tarmac rally and we are very satisfied with the performance of Alejandro and Borja throughout the weekend. The pity has been the punctures but we are fighting in the leading positions and it gives us a lot of encouragement to continue in the championship at full speed”.

Félix Iglesias (TGR SPAIN): “After the punctures a result like a second place is fantastic so we are very happy with the performance of the team in this Rally Sierra Morena”.
