Exciting victory for Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada at the 48th Rally Islas Canarias

The Rally Islas Canarias started with the celebration of the special stage in which Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada drifted their GR Yaris Rally2 in the Gran Canaria Arena with an exceptional atmosphere.

On Friday, the second day of the rally, the team started in the best possible way, scoring two scratches, one of them achieving the best time in the European Rally Championship.

Another scratch put Cachón and Rozada in the lead after TC4 and at the top of the standings in both the Spanish and European Rally Superchampionships.

A puncture in TC5 made Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada lose 40 seconds and move away from the classification. However, two new scratches to finish Friday’s stage were a declaration of intentions for Saturday’s stage with the aim of recovering as much as possible.

Saturday started with two new scratches that allowed Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada to recover the time lost due to the puncture and continue climbing positions.

The great pace of Cachón – Rozada meant that we reached the last stage of this rally +0.2 seconds from the first position in the S-CER and with the third position of the European Championship at stake as well as 6 scratches in the European Championship and 10 scratches in the SCER out of the 13 stages of the event.

Alejandro Cachón (DRIVER): “Super happy, after yesterday’s puncture we didn’t throw in the towel, we kept pushing as hard as we could and more. We ran like never before. I have to thank the Teo Martin Motorsport team because the car didn’t have any problems during the whole rally and the set-up was perfect, which allowed me to push hard without having too many scares. I also want to thank Toyota Gazoo Racing for trusting me and I am looking forward to the next rally. “

Borja Rozada (CO-DRIVER): “We are very happy to have achieved a result like this in the Rally Islas Canarias, which has been a rollercoaster. From the shakedown where we didn’t feel at ease to the good pace we had in the first stages. Then there was the puncture that we recovered little by little until we got the victory in the SCER, the third place in the European Championship and the scratch in the TC+, so it has been an unbeatable result despite the adversities. I would like to congratulate the whole Teo Martín Motorsport team, Toyota Gazoo Racing and Cachón for showing impeccable maturity, pace and composure on a rally like this”.

Teo Martín (TEAM MANAGER): “‘We are very happy with the way the rally went. Alejandro and Borja ‘We are very happy with how the rally went. Alejandro and Borja have done a very good rally from the beginning with scratches. The bad luck was the puncture we had in a section and that made us lose 40 seconds but then we have been recovering little by little to get the first victory in the SCER. It was a tight victory because until the penultimate stage the gap to the first was 0.2 seconds. I would like to thank Toyota for the car which is fantastic, we are working a lot with them and collaborating with the car. I would also like to congratulate all the Canarian fans for the love they have shown us and to keep working.
